I’m Jeffrey St Laurent with SellingCoaching.com and today we’re going to learn what we get paid for as an entrepreneur.

Your success as an entrepreneur relies on you understanding the fact that we get paid for results, not time. When you have a 9-to-5 job, you get paid for time – you show up at nine, you go home at five and it doesn’t matter what you do during that timeframe: you could be texting someone, you could be surfing the Internet, or you could be chatting with a buddy, you could be daydreaming at your desk.

Either way you’re still going to get paid for those eight hours or whatever timeframe you work for. Sure you have to create results otherwise you get fired, but the point is, is that if you show up and you’re there for that amount of time you get paid for that amount of time.

The difference is as an entrepreneur we can go into our office at nine in the morning and leave our office at 5 PM and we can daydream and we can text, we can surf the Internet, we can do whatever we want but the difference is, at the end of the day we’ve got paid for nothing.

It’s so important that we understand what activities produce revenue and what activities are just kind of everyday business related activities. There are going to be activities that we do that don’t necessarily produce that result which is getting paid right away, we have got to do those… it’s so important though, however, to understand which are the revenue producing activities.

Another way of thinking about this, which might scare you little bit to be honest, is that if you think about a straight commission sales person. So in order to do straight commission sales, they only get paid for when they actually create a sale.

So they can fly around, they can travel, they can meet people, they can make calls, they can be sitting in front of the computer all day doing emails, but when do they get paid? They only get paid when they actually create that sale. That’s their commission or however their compensation plan works. That’s what they do.

So essentially as a full-time entrepreneur we are straight commission sales. That’s why it’s so important that we understand selling in the art of selling. You become more comfortable with it. Because that’s how we create our revenue in this business. And if we’re going to to take that leap from a part-time hobby to a full-time career it’s so important we understand that part.

So now little challenge for you. Take a look at your schedule; whatever hours you’re working, whether it’s a two hour time frame or it’s a six hour timeframe and just ask yourself even before you understand what are the top revenue producing activities, ask yourself; do I believe that this activity is going to produce revenue for me? Am I going to get directly paid for this?

And if not, doesn’t mean don’t do it, it just means in the timeframes that you’re working each day with your business, and again it might be an hour, or two hours, three hours depending on your work schedule, you just want to make sure that in that amount of time you have some block of time set aside or those revenue producing activities. Make sure you check out my video on the Top 4 Revenue Producing Activities so you can learn more what those are.

So if you’re ready to take that leap, always remember, selling coaching is the absolute best way to fast-track your business from a part-time hobby to a full time career. Now, get out there GET LEADS, GET CLIENTS and GET PAID!
